Has anyone had child support deducted that never arrived?

My ex, who lives several states away, and I agreed that he would send enough money to cover daycare costs for our son. I was sent a letter saying that the child support payments were going to be deducted from his paychecks over a month ago. After not recieving anything and covering the cost, I called him. He said that the CS has been deducted from his last two paychecks. I called the support division and they said there is nothing in the system...He is going to check with his payroll department to see what the deal is, but the woman who handles it is apparently out of town until next week...Although my ex CAN be a real a** sometimes, I'm inclined to believe him as he has been straightforward with me in the past about not having the money and we've always worked something out. So has anyone ever had this problem? Could his employer be keeping that money for themselves?
